| Hey fellas, So I went to my first autox and to be frank was quite skeptical about how the Z would perform. Z's are great GT's but I have never expected them to shine in an autox. So today was my first timed event and there was some stiff competition in the form of Z06's, Elises, an NSX, an Evo, many STI's, S2000's, and race-prepped Miata's. While I was waiting for my turn and looking at the other cars go I was thinking, there's no way I could put those kind of times. However, when my turn came I was totally flabbergasted by the Z. Mine's a stock TTZ with about 80k miles on stock suspension. It was a small road coarse on which the driving school put cones to have two slaloms and I was constantly in the second gear. The day was pretty warm with temperatures in the high 70's and no rain. I improved my time from 40.8x to 37.06. The fastest time today was 33.0x put down by an '07 Z06 with some sort of R-compound tires. The driver was also not a novice. The second best was 34.xx put down by a race-prepped Miata with an instructor driving. So, yes, there's a lot of difference between my time and the Z06's but my expectations were low and I am extremely satisfied. I think the area where the Z really shone was the slaloms. I was having trouble finding the correct line and that could easily knock off a second or two from my times. So, I'm going to another autox event tomorrow morning. Hopefully, there will be improvement. Here are some pictures I took. Sorry about the crappy cellphone quality.
